Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
FDI is critical for Macedonia to develop competitive industries and accelerate growth and employment creation.

The Competitiveness Project will support the efforts of the Government of Macedonia  Investment Promotion entities through research and proposal development support,
follow-up on inquiries, and especially special projects to overcome key location requirements involving workforce development, local suppliers and location sites and related services.

Competiveness Project will also develop individual independent FDI channels and develop FDI prospects.
 
Light manufacturing
The potential for this sector has been demonstrated through recent FDI announcements as well as significant numbers of local firms that can develop the capacity to supply these new investors and buyers abroad.
Fashion and Design
This sector is Macedonia’s principal source of manufacturing employment, but faces major competitive threats based on cost.
ICT
This sector has experienced some successes in animation and software programming, as well as rapid growth in mobile telephony.
