Access to finance

MCP’s access to Finance component focuses on capturing new investment opportunities through the expansion of the Financial Platform, which helps companies develop and present investment proposals to financial institutions. While Financial Platform activities initially supported credit-based domestic investment, MCP has extended the platform to support strategic partnerships, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and other equity deals.

Activities include:

Support for investment proposals

A pool of over 20 financial facilitators (consultants) helps companies formulate growth strategies and present to financial institutions. Companies cover part of the consulting fee.

Specifically, financial consultants:

  • Work with identified companies (MCP partners) to quantify external financing needed for growth, and screen firms’ production and business processes
  • Determine current creditworthiness and attractiveness of companies
  • Identify and plan investment needs by formulating growth strategies
  • Develop sound business plans
  • Perform financial analyses to structure expansion ideas into sound business finance proposals
  • Determine the mix of financial instruments needed
  • Forecast payback scenarios
  • Support selected firms in presentation of their plans and financing needs to banks and other financial institutions.

Partnership with the financial institutions

MCP, through the work of its consultants, partners with financial institutions by developing and offering them a portfolio of bankable projects.

Networking and matchmaking events

MCP organizes quarterly events to align information between businesses and banks, creating an information exchange platform to overcome prevalent mistrust between local businesses and banks and to present ideas from both sides, creating matchmaking possibilities.

Equity Financing

MCP promotes various equity financing options within and outside Macedonia, with a specific focus on helping companies engage investors. Equity investments can help companies grow faster with less debt burden, while benefitting from transfer of management know-how. Attendant opportunities include package and support equity, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, merger and acquisition and venture capital deals generated by specially trained advisors, local counterparts, vertical component clients, and the foreign investment component’s Economic Development Agents network.

In cooperation with Euro-Phoenix Financial Advisors Ltd., MCP hosts a series of seminars based on encouraging equity investments, strategic partnerships and financial partnerships, furthering the competitiveness of Macedonian companies. The seminars show how Macedonian entrepreneurs can attract international investments and also outline the typical process of receiving an overseas investment, while giving firms the opportunity to directly contact potential investors.
